Description
It was the first game of Alabama's 1985 season — Georgia had just scored a touchdown on a blocked punt to take a 16-13 lead with only 50 seconds remaining in the game. What happened next remains one of Alabama's most remarkable final drives in its storied history.
Aided by a 15-yard celebration penalty on the Bulldogs, Alabama received the ensuing kick-off at its own 29-yard line. With no time outs remaining Quarterback Mike Shula led the Tide on a 5 play, 71-yard drive culminating in a 18-yard touchdown strike with only 15 seconds left to complete The Comeback over Georgia 20-16.
