Description

Auburn 14 | Alabama 8

It was Coach Paul Bryant’s first year at Bama - they were hoping for revival.  Auburn was #2 in nation and were the 7 and a half point favorite in this year‘s big Iron Bowl.  The Tigers were on a 23 game winning streak, four in a row over the Tide.  The commentators were right - Auburn took this one, and kept on their winning path.  ‘“We were beaten,” Bama’s Bryant commented, “by a superior team…by a great football team.”’ —Neal Ellis, The Birmingham News

At only a yard out Jimmy Reynolds (#33) pushes into the end zone for the Tigers’ second touchdown, with the help of teammates Lloyd Nix (#44), Zeke Smith (#61) and Jimmy Pettus (#20).
