Description
Alabama 35 | Auburn 0
A blowout by the Crimson Tide ended Alabama’s regular season with a perfect 11-0-0 record. Randy Billingsly and Wilbur Jackson led the Tide with carries, while QB’s Gary Rutledge and Richard Todd set their team up for TD’s, and linebacker Woody Lowe fronted its defense. Alabama was the team selected as the National Champions. The Tide then played Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, but lost; this controversy changed the process of the AP Poll to choose the National Championship team after the bowl games were played.
Steve Sprayberry (#78) blocks for RB Wilbur Jackson (#80) who runs the ball, while QB Gary Rutledge (#11) watches from behind.
