Description
Alabama 34 | Auburn 16
The game was close at half-time with Bama leading 17-13, but the Tide rolled on and took control in the second half. “Auburn came at us with an aggressive game today. And our defense had to buckle down in the second half. But we wanted it bad; we want to be No. 1,“ exclaimed Marty Lyons.
This game marked Bama’s 17th straight win against SEC teams. No. 2 Alabama went on to New Orleans to compete against No. 1 Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. They won and became the 1978 National Champions.
A herd of Bama defenseman, Marty Lyons (#93), Don McNeal (#28), Barry Krauss (#77) and E.J. Junior (#39), surround Auburn’s Joe Cribbs (#20) with the ball.
