The Tigers lead by one point until Alabama’s Van Tiffin kicked the game-winning field goal. — Tiffin was the clear hero of the game.  The Tide kept Auburn off balance throughout the game by trying new plays, such as using the wishbone formation.  Bama’s defense had not allowed a team to score a touchdown in the first quarter all season, and Auburn was no exception.

Van Tiffin (#3) kicked the 52-yard game-winning field goal.  Larry Abney (#19) held the ball for Tiffin.  Auburn’s Kevin Porter (#3) just missed the block.
