Description
It was November 30, 1985 — Only six seconds remained on Legion Field's stadium clock and Alabama trailed Auburn by a mere point. Bama's Van Tiffin (#3) put his leg into a 52-yard field goal attempt. The football sailed over the crossbar at the South end of the stadium where Artist Daniel A. Moore witnessed it with his father, the late August (Gus) Moore. During their car ride home, Daniel turned to Gus and said, "Well, Dad, it looks like I've got the subject matter for my next painting!"
The play which has become the most famous kick in Alabama Football history, gave the Tide a 25-23 victory over the arch rival Tigers. Other Alabama players pictured include Larry Abney (#19) and Chester Braggs (#30).
