The Kick
Only six ticks remain on Legion Field's stadium clock. Alabama trails Auburn by a mere point. Bama's Van Tiffin puts his leg into a 52-yard field goal attempt. This, the most famous kick in Alabama Football history, would give the Tide a 25-23 victory over their arch rival. The football sailed over the crossbar at the South end of the Stadium where Artist Daniel A. Moore witnessed it with his father, the late August (Gus) Moore. During their car ride home, Daniel turned to Gus and said, "Well, Dad, it looks like I've got the subject matter for my next painting!"
