The Kick II

In 1990, Gene Stallings' first year as the Tide's head coach, Big Orange fans were eagerly looking forward to ending their four-year losing streak to Alabama. Late in the game, Stacy Harrison (#1) blocked a 50-yard field goal attempt by Tennessee, sending the ball bouncing back to the Vol's 37-yard line. With the score tied and only four seconds left in the game, senior place-kicker Philip Doyle came on stage and did one the best "Van Tiffin" impersonations since 1985. He nailed a 47-yarder, giving Alabama a 9-6 win.
